Donald Trump went off-script during a campaign rally in Michigan on Sunday (October 25) held in support of Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers, making no effort to hide his admiration for rapper Nicki Minaj’s physical attributes.
“By the way, I just saw Nicki Minaj’s incredible ass,” Trump remarked, drawing enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. “That’s hard to miss. Stand up! That’s hard to miss.”
“Okay, I’ll get back to my story, Nicki,” Trump continued, as the crowd erupted again. “I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted, but we love Nicki. She’s been with us for a long time,” he added.

“I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted.” President Trump makes a joke about Nicki Minaj’s backside during his Michigan campaign rally before quickly adding, “We love Nicki. She’s been with us for a long time.” The moment comes as Minaj joins the president on the campaign trail ahead of the midterm elections. This isn’t the first time Trump has gone off-script
Trump’s teasing comments about Minaj’s figure came as he was explaining a recent remark he had made about the physique of Republican Ohio Senator Jon Husted.
Earlier in October, Trump had said of the former American football player:
“I don’t do this often with men. I started looking at his body, because I didn’t know he was a great athlete. I looked at him, checked him out from top to bottom. I looked at his ass, I looked at his whole body… and then I looked at his hands. Look at his hands. He’s got something like… fingernails.”
“You’re a great athlete,” Trump also told Husted. “Congratulations,” he added.
Trump was at the rally to support Mike Rogers, the Republican Senate candidate in Michigan. The Michigan race between Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed remains extremely competitive, with both parties fighting for control of Congress ahead of Tuesday’s (November 3) upcoming midterm elections.
Predictably, the president’s comments ignited a frenzy on social media, with Trump making no effort to conceal his irritation at the reaction. He declared that the media uproar surrounding his remarks amounted to “fake news,” arguing that it completely ignored the athletic context in which the comments were made.
Trump insisted that his remark was made “as a joke.” “I said: I looked at his ass — and I’ve never done that with a man before. It’s true. Off the record: with women, yes; with men, no, okay?”
Trump’s claim that Greenland belongs to the US
Trump also claimed during his two-hour Michigan speech that the United States owns Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark located in the Arctic. “We own Greenland — we manage it jointly with Denmark. We signed a very good deal with excellent lawyers,” the president stated. “For an indefinite period of time. No restrictions. Nothing whatsoever.” Last month, Trump announced a deal with Greenland that would “grant the US permanent access to the island and permission to build military bases there, without Denmark’s approval.” The agreement still needs to be approved by Denmark’s parliament in order to be ratified.
Trump on Iran and the Nobel Prize — firing shots at Norway
Trump also acknowledged that Americans are feeling the burden of high fuel prices due to the war with Iran, while arguing that the increase had been smaller than he expected. “In the short term, you take a hit. It’s not a big hit. I thought the price of gasoline would go up a lot more,” the US president said. “The most abhorrent, the most malicious state — the number one state sponsor of terrorism — is, by far, Iran. And we had to make sure they would never get nuclear weapons.” “Honestly, I thought prices would go up a lot more,” Trump said. According to the AAA motorist organization, the national average price per gallon of gasoline on Sunday was approaching $4.30. A year ago, the average price was just over $3 per gallon.
Finally, Trump expressed his displeasure at not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, describing this year’s laureate, Navi Pillay, as “a woman nobody has ever heard of,” while launching an attack on Norway and the committee that awards the prize. “Norway has actually become, in reality, a sh*thole country,” he said.
