Another shocking attack has taken place in the United States, this time in Michigan, where five people were killed by a 39-year-old man for reasons that remain unknown at this time. The incident occurred on Friday (August 14), when 39-year-old Chad Hickman shot and killed five people before turning the gun on himself.
Michigan mass shooting: 6 dead, including the gunman
According to reports, the ordeal began when police in Missaukee County received calls about gunshots at a residence shortly before noon on Friday. Officers who rushed to the scene discovered three people dead and another in critical condition, who was transported to a hospital, while the 39-year-old suspect had fled the scene. During the search for the gunman, officers discovered a fourth victim dead at a separate residence.
Shortly afterward, authorities located Hickman’s vehicle in a wooded area near a lake, where they found him dead inside, along with one additional victim.
Gunman had prior criminal convictions
Court records reveal that the 39-year-old suspect was in the process of going through a divorce at the time of the shooting. He also had prior criminal convictions, having pleaded guilty in 2024 to two misdemeanor charges and receiving a sentence of more than one year. Specifically, he had been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and fourth-degree child abuse in connection with a 2010 incident.
