Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has issued a stark warning to Bulgaria, urging the country not to allow the United States to use its territory for military operations. Tehran’s response comes after the Bulgarian government announced its intention to seek parliamentary approval for the stationing of up to eight American aerial refueling aircraft on Bulgarian soil — a country that is a member of both NATO and the European Union.

Esmail Baghaei, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, stressed that any action facilitating US strikes against Iran would be considered complicity in “war crimes.” Baghaei urged Sofia not to become an “accomplice” to aggressors and those violating international law.
According to the Bulgarian government’s plans, the American refueling aircraft are set to be hosted at the Bezmer military air base, located approximately 260 kilometers southeast of the capital, Sofia.
