At an Easter celebration full of children that the US president hosted at the White House, he made statements about military operations. The scene was characterized by many users as surreal, as it combined a children’s celebration with serious geopolitical references.

The image of Trump greeting from the balcony of the South Portico of the White House, with the Washington Monument in the background and the Easter bunny next to him, quickly went viral. The official White House account on X posted the photo with the simple caption “Icons,” sparking thousands of comments. Trump’s speech took place during the “Easter Egg Roll 2026,” the traditional Easter celebration held every year on the South Lawn of the White House.

More than 40,000 Easter eggs, 150 live chickens from the American Egg Board, book readings by Melania Trump, and dozens of activities for children under 13 years old comprised the festive setting, which included families selected through a free lottery.

However, what drew the most attention was the content of Trump’s speech. Amid the festive atmosphere, the American president announced the rescue of two crew members from the F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet, which was shot down on April 3rd by the Revolutionary Guards. He characterized the rescue as an “Easter miracle,” connecting the military operation with the symbolic message of the holiday.
