63 former members of SYRIZA’s Central Committee have issued a joint resignation statement.
Statement from the resigning members
At a time when society is being hit hard by the multiple dead ends of government policy, our very own party has seen the entrenchment of inward-looking behaviors that undermine the principles and ideals we fought for.
Instead of unity and collective effort toward a progressive way forward, we are witnessing public attacks, personal confrontations, and practices that sabotage democratically adopted decisions.
These behaviors do not reflect political choices. They wound the bonds of comradeship, the sacrifices, and the history of an entire political movement that we loved and served.
We cannot remain bystanders in a process where a minority attempts, at will, to bypass the party’s constitution and drive it toward division. We choose to remain faithful to the values of democracy, solidarity, and collective responsibility — values that have always been at the heart of our political struggle.
We resign from the Central Committee, honoring the shared battles, the struggles, and the sincere intentions of the comrades who honored us with their trust.
We hope that the progressive space will once again find its unity and prove that the Left exists to defend democracy, labor rights, the welfare state, and the rights of citizens.
We call on all those who genuinely want unity and a path forward to take responsibility and work toward a true, collective renewal.
