The majority of parliamentary members have sided with the Committee on Parliamentary Ethics’ recommendation to issue a formal censure against Zoe Konstantopoulou for anti-parliamentary conduct. The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, has also aligned himself with the recommendation.
The Committee convened in a closed-door session, during which it was called upon to examine complaints filed by MPs Andreas Nikolakopoulos and Maria Syreggela against Ms. Konstantopoulou for unethical conduct — both within the parliamentary inquiry committee on OPEKAYPE and during plenary sessions.
The Committee on Parliamentary Ethics has also been tasked with deciding whether to issue a positive or negative opinion on a request to lift Ms. Konstantopoulou’s parliamentary immunity, following a defamation lawsuit filed against her by a businesswoman.
