Today afternoon at the “Olympion” venue in Thessaloniki, Maria Karystianou will announce the creation of her political party and present the political-ideological framework of this new venture. According to sources, the new party’s name will include the word “hope,” while organizers are anxiously hoping their mobilization efforts will succeed in filling the space in front of the “Olympion,” where giant screens will be installed so attendees can follow the new party leader’s speech.
The event is expected to open with a well-known actress, followed by short videos featuring Maria Karystianou’s supporters from around the world. From China to America, and across all of Europe. Naturally, supporters from throughout Greece will also send messages. In her speech, Maria Karystianou will address her party’s fundamental principles, goals, and the character of this new political entity. A key objective for the new political movement’s leader is to demonstrate that she appeals not only to conservative audiences, but also to center-right voters.
However, the communication preparation for this venture has brought various problems that have particularly displeased party officials of Maria Karystianou’s movement. Officials from Central and Northern Greece appear especially dissatisfied with the president of the Greek community of St. Petersburg, Stratos Siurtakis, who uploaded a video from the first day of signatures, creating the impression that the new party is dependent on Moscow.
This incident troubled many officials within Maria Karystianou’s party, as it received extensive press coverage, suggesting that the new political entity is funded by Russian capital. The lawsuit against Nikos Karahalios was concrete proof from the leader and Thanasis Avgerinos that the new political venture has no connection to allegations about its relations with Moscow.
It’s characteristic that in yesterday’s appeal, Maria Karystianou addressed this issue, saying: “I warmly thank you for the messages of support and love for our movement. Daily we become more and more, and this frightens them greatly.” She also spoke of attempts to undermine her initiative, claiming there would be efforts to destabilize and discredit the venture. “They devise various schemes and will do even more, but they cannot stop us or halt our struggle for justice. We know that planted and malicious people will be found among us with the purpose of tarnishing the clean and unifying image of the movement,” she noted. “With particular joy and honor, I invite you tomorrow, Thursday, at 18:30 at the ‘Olympion’ cinema in Aristotelous Square, in our beloved Thessaloniki, to become one embrace and send the strongest message of real hope for a new beginning,” she emphasized.
