New revelations are coming to light regarding the case of the double murder at a camping site in Finikounda, Greece, where the owner and supervisor were shot dead on Sunday evening (05/10). Specifically, new documentary video evidence has been revealed on the fourth day of authorities’ investigations to locate the perpetrator. It should be noted that authorities are trying to trace the killer’s route, while according to witness testimony on a Mega television program, the wanted man allegedly headed toward the Ilia region.
Finikounda double murder: New security camera footage
Specifically, as revealed on a Mega television program, two new videos came to light showing the route the perpetrator followed shortly after the double murder. In particular, on Sunday evening around 20:39, new footage was located tracking the perpetrator’s movements. One shows the motorcycle that started from the camping site and reached Ilia, with what appears to be a second motorcycle following behind. At the same time, information about the perpetrator comes from a gas station owner in the Ilia area, where the killer stopped. As he told authorities, the perpetrator wore a helmet and his motorcycle doesn’t appear to have license plates, however his description doesn’t match the one given by the victim’s nephew.
It should be recalled that, as has become known, around 20:20 on Sunday, October 5, a first security camera captured the perpetrator at a short distance from the camping site. He continues his route through the city of Pylos, making a detour in his journey, a fact that shows the perpetrator was probably familiar with the area. And he reaches Koryfasi.
Authorities are trying to track down the perpetrator responsible for the double murder in Messinia, searching for a young man, tall, with light-colored features who doesn’t speak Greek, as described by the camping owner’s nephew who was at the crime scene and survived the attack.
The change in the 68-year-old’s will
A key witness in the murder case also provided new details, revealing important information about the 68-year-old camping owner’s will and the changes he made to it recently. “A few days before the murder happened and after we had signed the new will, he called me to come to the camping and told me ‘I think I did the right thing with what I did.’ I didn’t ask him for details because he was generally an authoritarian person and didn’t want you to question him or get in his way. I remember he told me: ‘I want to sell everything and leave to go to Monaco, I can’t take it anymore,'” the witness said. At the same time, the 33-year-old nephew of the victim and sole eyewitness has been called 4 times to identify suspects, however so far he hasn’t recognized anyone as the person who took the life of his uncle and the supervisor. As the nephew claims, the perpetrator also shot at him, with him escaping by luck, however his uncle who was sitting on the inside of the office received three bullets.
Another nephew of the 62-year-old spoke emotionally about the latest developments, saying: “I’m sure the police know what they’re doing.” An eyewitness who lives near the camping exit, from where the perpetrator allegedly escaped, explained what he experienced on Sunday evening: “I had just come home to go inside my house. I heard loud bangs, I thought they were flares, they were gunshots. I heard ‘help, help’ and ran to the entrance to see what was happening. I saw a man running quickly toward the camping restaurant, I followed him. It was the owner’s nephew, he was confused, he couldn’t talk to us from his distress. I asked about the other two, he told us ‘they’re down’ and I understood something serious had happened. I went and got a flashlight, and we went back to the camping near the reception. I was scared too. I saw the supervisor’s body face down at the reception, I was disturbed. I asked about the owner, I opened the window slightly, the door was closed if I remember correctly and I saw him also face down behind the counter. I happened to be there at that moment. His head and the reception wall were covered in blood,” said the eyewitness.
The relationship with the niece
The 68-year-old’s niece said her own goodbye to her uncle with a social media post. The camping owner, while having received two attacks in the past, didn’t tell police what he probably knew and tried to solve the problem himself, leaving his house and now staying at the camping and choosing a rifle for self-protection. All these elements lead to the probable conclusion that behind the murder of the two men at the Finikounda camping lie personal and possibly financial differences that were resolved with blood. “The victim’s niece never stayed at the camping. The 68-year-old hosted her at his house in Stadion and he slept on a couch. This woman couldn’t have stayed at the camping, that’s not her character type.. The camping is for other people with tattoos, she’s a different type. There’s a very large financial surface in this family, the niece lives a high life. She worked at a bank, her uncle because he loved her very much, always helped her with everything. Her clothes are extremely expensive brands. Her uncle wouldn’t let her buy even gum, even if she had 1000 euros in her wallet. She never sent the labor inspection to her uncle,” emphasized a person from the niece’s environment. And added: “Her uncle had given her 200,000 euros and all of Finikounda knew it. The girl is mourning, now she’s lost everything. The 68-year-old was godfather to her child, who also has his name. She’s upset, they talked every day. She’s in a terrible state, crying constantly, it’s like she lost her father, she just wants the killer to be found”.
