The Syntagma Metro station will close on Wednesday morning due to the student parade taking place in the center of Athens. The celebration of the national anniversary of October 28 will be accompanied by student and military parades, as well as modifications to public transportation services and traffic regulations in both Athens and Thessaloniki. The relevant traffic police decisions affect buses, the metro, and trams. In Athens, the key disruption is the closure of the Syntagma Metro station and temporary changes to bus, trolleybus, and tram routes. In Thessaloniki, drivers are advised to avoid major roads around Megalou Alexandrou Avenue, where the military parade will take place.
October 28: Syntagma Metro station closes at 08:00
According to updates on fixed-rail transit operations, the Syntagma Metro station will close at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, by order of the Hellenic Police, due to the student parade in the city center. During this period, trains will pass through the station without stopping.
Changes are also expected to tram services on lines 6 and 7:

Buses and trolleybuses in Athens: Temporary route changes
OASA (Athens Urban Transport Organisation) has announced temporary modifications to bus, trolleybus, and tram routes for Wednesday, October 28, due to the national anniversary celebrations. According to the organization’s announcement, changes will be implemented gradually from 10:00 a.m. and will remain in effect until the traffic police measures are lifted. The modifications affect lines passing through streets where parades will take place or where traffic restrictions will be imposed.
Additional route changes will also apply in other municipalities at locations where October 28 parades are scheduled. It is worth noting that public transport is expected to operate on a Sunday and public holiday schedule. This means passengers should check timetables in advance and allow for potential delays. For detailed information on affected lines, passengers can consult the official OASA announcement or contact the information center at 11185.
