A major operation by the Greek Police (ELAS) was carried out in residential settlements of Aspropyrgos on Thursday morning, targeting illegal activity that has been repeatedly documented in the area. According to official information, the operation involved officers from the West Attica Crime Investigation Sub-Directorate, the Attica Police Operations Directorate, the OPKE special operations unit, the OPDI unit, the DIAS motorcycle squad, the Attica Traffic Police Directorate, and an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone).

Aspropyrgos: 16 arrested for electricity theft as 2,380 meters of illegal cables removed
As part of the operation, a total of 16 individuals were arrested, with criminal charges filed against them for electricity theft. A crew from Greece’s Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) carried out the removal of cables spanning 2,380 meters that had been used to illegally siphon electricity across 16 homes.

In addition, 18 traffic violations were recorded, including driving without a valid license, failure to wear a seatbelt, and missing roadworthiness certificates (KTEO), among others. Four vehicle registration licenses and seven driving licenses were also confiscated. The complete case file has been submitted to the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office.
