Stavros Niarchos Foundation hosts glittering 250th US Independence Day reception

A festive atmosphere filled the Stavros Niarchos Foundation this evening as a grand reception was held to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. This year’s July 4th celebration is particularly special, as it took place not at the ambassador’s residence but at one of Athens’ most iconic venues. The glittering reception brought together prominent figures from Greece’s political, religious, and civic leadership, as well as representatives from the business world.

US Independence Day celebration – Who attended

Among those in attendance were Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, Education Minister Sofia Zacharaki, Deputy Minister for Migration and Asylum Sevi Voludaki, Deputy Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Kostas Katsafados, Migration and Asylum Minister Thanos Plevris, Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos, Deputy Foreign Minister Haris Theoharis, Deputy Minister for National Defence Thanasis Davakis, Deputy Minister for Environment and Energy Nikos Tsafos, Deputy Foreign Minister Tasos Hatzivassiliou, the minister responsible for Macedonia-Thrace affairs Konstantinos Gkioulekας, Deputy Interior Minister Vassilis Spanakis, and New Democracy parliamentary spokesperson Stratos Simopoulos.

Also honoring the occasion with their presence were Athens Mayor Haris Doukas alongside his wife Georgia Polytanou, former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, and the president of the “Elpida” party Maria Karystianou. Members of Parliament Euripidis Stylianidis and Stavros Kalafatis were also present, as were PASOK MPs Dimitris Mantzos, Michalis Katrinis, Nadia Giannakopoulos, and SYRIZA-PS MP Giorgos Karameros.

Also attending the star-studded reception were AKTOR Group president and CEO Alexandros Exarchou with his wife and Attica Bank CEO Eleni Vrettou, Panagiotis Angelopoulos and Giorgos Angelopoulos, Marianna Latsi, and businessman Antonis Markopoulos. Also spotted at the event were Giorgos Ntavlas and Elena Ntavla.
