The trial of the three suspects at the Summary Three-Member Misdemeanor Court for the case of the murder of the 27-year-old, son of the police officer in Agios Dimitrios, was postponed until Monday and the court lifted their detention.
The defense emphasized that they came forward voluntarily to report criminal acts while requesting to be released since they are not flight risks and have known residences. All three mothers also testified in court. The mother of the 20-year-old woman who was in a relationship with both the perpetrator now and the victim in the past said tearfully: “He was her first love, I knew him, but no one expected things would turn out this way. She studies and works”.
Earlier, criminal charges for harboring a criminal were filed against three individuals – an 18-year-old and two 20-year-old women – involved in the murder case of the 27-year-old, and they were taken to the courts of the former Evelpidon School. The defendants were referred to stand trial at the Summary Three-Member Misdemeanor Court of Athens.
Athens murder case: 20-year-old sailor transferred to Piraeus Naval Court for killing 27-year-old
The 20-year-old perpetrator of the 27-year-old’s murder, son of the senior police officer, which took place Wednesday night at Asirmatos Park in Agios Dimitrios, was transferred earlier to the Piraeus Naval Court, along with his 18-year-old friend and their two girlfriends, who are charged with harboring. The arrested individuals were taken to the Naval Court since the 20-year-old, who is charged with premeditated murder, illegal weapon possession and use, serves his military service in the Navy, and there the case files will be separated for the other three.
More and more details are coming to light about the murder, as it’s revealed that the 20-year-old had hidden the murder knife on the roof of his house – the weapon that ended the life of the 27-year-old, son of the police brigadier. Specifically, homicide officers located, upon the young man’s indication, who serves his military service in the Navy, the spot where he had discarded the knife that he plunged into the 27-year-old’s heart.
Athens murder: Knife attack over a girl, 20-year-old suspect unrepentant about the crime
A few hours before the 20-year-old’s transfer to the competent prosecutor of the Naval Court in Piraeus, the entire backstory behind the heinous murder of 27-year-old Theophilos, son of a senior police officer, Wednesday night at Asirmatos Park in Agios Dimitrios, is slowly unfolding. Despite speculation that suggested the 27-year-old was involved in football fan-related issues, or even drug-related cases, apparently everything happened over matters of the heart – for a girl.
The 20-year-old didn’t hesitate to pull out a knife to “finish” the “problem” once and for all, plunging at least two families into despair. Within just a few hours, however, and within the limits of summary proceedings, the Crime Against Life Division, the famous Homicide Department, managed to solve the case and bring the hot-headed perpetrator before Justice.
According to sources from parapolitika.gr, investigations moved rapidly in all directions and on multiple axes. In fact, this time video footage from security cameras of area businesses was hardly needed.
“She didn’t know about the meeting,” claims the perpetrator’s girlfriend’s lawyer
The position that the meeting between the 27-year-old and the 19-year-old was arranged without their knowledge and that the main girl in the case tried to prevent it was expressed by the lawyer of the two women arrested in the Agios Dimitrios murder case, along with the perpetrator and his friend. “As representative of the two girls and their families, I would like to express my warm condolences to the family and relatives of the unfortunate lost child. The girls, from the first moment they managed to overcome the shock, came to my office and successively first the main girl, let’s put it that way, and then the next one reported the commission of the criminal act, shedding light on the case when the investigation was not simply in the dark, but misdirected, focusing mainly on the grieving father’s profession,” the lawyer noted.
As he argued, the reality is that “without either of the two knowing absolutely anything, this meeting was arranged. The first girl, let’s say the romantic partner of both persons successively, of both children – the victim and the perpetrator – only learned from the perpetrator that there was going to be a meeting and she deterred him, telling him verbally and in writing ‘Don’t go, don’t go for any reason.’ When the act was committed, she was asking if something had finally happened and the perpetrator told her that the victim had not actually shown up.
When she learned about it, she left the scene, went to her house and tried to understand what had happened. When she understood it, in fact I would say without having yet understood it, she came to my office and was in complete confusion. We couldn’t even communicate, put some thoughts in order to see what should happen.” Asked if she was present at the murder incident, he said that “she didn’t even know about it. I told you before that she was informed by the perpetrator himself that supposedly the victim didn’t go after all”.
A little while later, the lawyer added, the girl’s mother heard that the child had lost his life for another reason, “she didn’t know the reality and so as not to upset her daughter because they had a long-term friendship and relationship, she told her to return home using the excuse that something happened to your grandfather. And so the girl returned home and after the initial investigations that were made, the girl learned and fell into a state of shock. Unfortunately, even at this moment she remains in a state of shock. I believe the Prosecutor’s Office filed charges for harboring a criminal. However, this is not accurate and the innocence of both will be proven, because the actual revelation of the criminal act was first made by the girl who had the relationship and then immediately by the second one”.
