What ChatGPT offers inside the Viber app
Viber users in Greece can now access ChatGPT directly within the app, without ever leaving their conversations. This reflects Rakuten Viber’s ongoing commitment to making artificial intelligence practical, accessible, and useful in everyday communication. The following ChatGPT-powered features are now available to all Viber users in Greece on iOS and Android, with desktop support coming soon:
- ChatGPT as a standalone contact and tab in Viber: Enjoy a full ChatGPT experience within a dedicated Viber conversation. Ask anything, get help with a task, or dive deep into a topic — all without switching to another app. No ChatGPT account is needed to get started, but you can create one or log in for higher usage limits.
- @ChatGPT mentions in any conversation: Bring ChatGPT into any chat. Need ideas on where to watch the game? Mention @ChatGPT in a private or group conversation for suggestions. Simply type “@” and select ChatGPT as the first option in the menu to ask a question. Everyone in the chat can reply to ChatGPT’s messages, keeping the conversation going. ChatGPT messages appear in a distinct format so it’s always clear where they’re coming from. Only the specific message you send is shared with ChatGPT — not the rest of your conversation history.
- Image editing: Give your photos a fresh new look. Powered by ChatGPT Images, you can now edit and personalize photos directly in private and group chats. Change the style, add a unique touch, or transform an ordinary photo into something memorable for a special moment. Viber has also added ready-made templates to get you started right away. Just tap the Remix button and let your imagination run wild.
- Link summarization: ChatGPT summarizes the key points of an article, blog post, or document that’s been shared — just tap the button beneath the link. This feature is enabled by default in all group conversations.
- Conversation summary: Stay on top of even the busiest chats. With a single tap, you receive a private summary of the conversation — visible only to you — so you can keep track of important details or agreed actions, whether you’re planning a school trip or catching up on work updates.
- Message enhancement: Not sure how to phrase something important? Tap the pen icon in any chat, community, or channel (excluding comment threads) to rephrase your message with the right tone and clarity before hitting send. No one will know you used the tool.
- Message translation: Break down language barriers instantly. Whether you’re chatting with a local business on holiday or sending a birthday greeting to a colleague in their native language, translation is just a tap away via the pen icon.
“AI needs to be useful, accessible, and relevant to everyday life,” said Ofir Eyal, CEO of Rakuten Viber. “Through our partnership with OpenAI, we’re bringing ChatGPT directly into the conversations people are already having every day. Whether users want help drafting a message, summarizing information, translating content, or exploring new ideas, these tools are now available right inside Viber.”
“Messaging is where so much of daily life unfolds,” said Torben Severson, VP and Head of Global Business Development at OpenAI. “With ChatGPT in Viber, users can get helpful and creative support exactly when they need it — from finding the right words, to brightening a conversation or editing a photo. We’re excited to partner with Rakuten Viber to bring these tools to an app that users already rely on every day.”
Celebrating real connections through Viber Dating
During the event, Rakuten Viber also announced the winners of Kala Stefana, a special initiative celebrating meaningful relationships and genuine connections formed through Viber Dating. Since its launch in May 2025, Viber Dating has recorded over one million matches in Greece, where 1 in 4 single Greeks is already using the app — and 70% of matches lead to a conversation within just 6 minutes.

Couples from across Greece who met through Viber Dating were invited to share their personal stories of connection, commitment, and shared journeys. As part of the campaign, one couple was selected to receive a wedding gift worth €25,000, in recognition of their story and upcoming marriage. The initiative highlights how digital platforms can foster meaningful, real-world connections that extend far beyond the screen.
