The scholarships were awarded to Theofanis Tsakiris and Aikaterini Petroulia, students in the Department of Informatics and specifically in the Postgraduate Program in “Security & Development of Information Systems.” Both students completed their studies with outstanding academic performance in a field that sits at the heart of digital transformation: cybersecurity and the protection of information systems. At a time when businesses, public organizations, and critical infrastructure are increasingly reliant on digital technologies, the protection of data, systems, and networks has become a fundamental requirement for the resilience of the modern economy.
The awards ceremony and the industry connection
To mark their graduation, Tonia Petrovic, Senior Public Relations Manager at Huawei, attended the graduation ceremony and presented both distinguished graduates with honorary plaques in recognition of their dedication, consistency, and academic achievement. During the ceremony, the Program Director, Mr. Gritzalis, also presented an honorary plaque to Huawei and warmly thanked the company for its invaluable sponsorship support. As he noted, “This contribution is a meaningful example of the importance of close collaboration between academia and the job market. Through initiatives like this, our students gain valuable opportunities to engage with the latest technological developments, build in-demand skills, and effectively prepare for their professional careers.”
To date, through its Corporate Social Responsibility program, Huawei Greece has awarded scholarships in the form of financial support to more than 75 undergraduate and postgraduate students from eight Greek universities, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to advancing education, academic excellence, and digital skills development across Greece.
“At Huawei, we believe that technology truly evolves when we invest in the people who will design it, protect it, and bring it closer to society. Empowering young scientists in critical fields such as cybersecurity is, for us, a meaningful investment in Greece’s future and in developing the skills that the new digital era demands,” said Tonia Petrovic, Senior Public Relations Manager at Huawei.
For Huawei, supporting the next generation remains a consistent priority. Through initiatives that foster knowledge, excellence, and the connection between education and the job market, the company contributes to building an ecosystem where young scientists gain the essential tools to grow, innovate, and make a meaningful contribution to the country’s progress.
