With a firm focus on people and an unwavering commitment to equal access to healthcare, HYGEIA Hospital continues to expand its social mission, implementing prevention initiatives and outreach programs in areas of Greece where the need for specialized medical care remains high.
As part of the HellenicHealthcare Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility program “Everywhere,” this year’s mission traveled to Lemnos on June 20 and 21, offering free medical services to the island’s residents. The initiative was hosted at the 2nd Primary School of Myrina and was organized under the coordination of HYGEIA Hospital. The team comprised 28 doctors across 20 specialties, along with 32 volunteer nursing, technical, and administrative staff members.
A wide range of free services were provided, including blood and biochemical tests for adults and children, general ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, cardiac ultrasounds, Pap smear tests, gynecological ultrasounds, and spirometry tests. The response from local residents was overwhelmingly positive — more than 780 people were examined and over 3,500 medical and diagnostic tests were conducted, underscoring the vital importance and impact of such initiatives.
During the preventive screenings, a number of cases were identified that require further medical investigation and follow-up care. HYGEIA Hospital will take on the monitoring and treatment of these patients free of charge, reaffirming in a concrete way its long-standing social role and commitment to equal access to healthcare.
Andreas Kartapanis, Chairman and CEO of HYGEIA, commented: “The ‘Everywhere’ program is not simply a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative — it is the driving force that takes us where there is a genuine need. Lemnos marks another milestone in this journey of giving, with the goal of prevention, early diagnosis, and equal access to quality healthcare for all. My heartfelt thanks go to our doctors, our volunteers, and of course to the residents for their trust and warm welcome.”
Eleonora Georga, Mayor of Lemnos, stated: “On behalf of the local community of Lemnos, we extend our sincere gratitude to HYGEIA and the HHG Group, as well as to all the doctors and volunteers who took part in this effort. With great professionalism and a genuine sense of responsibility, they provided invaluable prevention and care services to the people of our island. The strong participation of our citizens highlights the significance of such initiatives for island and remote communities.”
The “Everywhere” Corporate Social Responsibility program has now firmly established itself as an enduring institution of social contribution, consistently reflecting the philosophy and people-centered character of HellenicHealthcare Group (HHG). Guided by a steady commitment to care, quality, and respect, we continue to stand by our fellow citizens at every corner of Greece.
