Russian air defense forces today shot down two Ukrainian drones that were heading toward Moscow, according to the capital’s mayor Sergey Sobyanin. The response was immediate, as explosions were heard in the sky over Vnukovo, causing disruption in the area.

Russia’s aviation service announced that Vnukovo International Airport temporarily suspended operations. Emergency services are on site, as Sobyanin reported in a Telegram post.
Video circulating on X shows civilians recording the explosions and flashes in the sky, while flocks of birds fly away in terror.
According to reports, the explosions were caused by the interception of the two drones on their way to the Russian capital. Tension at Vnukovo was evident as sirens sounded and area residents recorded the moments of chaos.
