Health alert for consumers from Greek food safety authorities, who are recalling a specific batch of Easter breadof Greek production, as it was found to contain excessive amounts of the substance “coumarin“. This substance can be harmful to health, which is why all consumers are advised not to consume it.
According to the official announcement, the product in question is:
“Easter Bread – THE COOKIE MASTERS”, with best before date 20/11/2025 and 480g packaging, produced and packaged by the company D. GOURGOULIS Mon. E.P.E., in Zacharo, Elis.
The sampling was carried out by the 1st Department of the 1st Chemical Service of Athens of the General State Laboratory and the product was characterized as unsafe and harmful to health, as the concentration of coumarin exceeds the maximum legislative limit for this specific food category.
Instructions to consumers from food safety authorities
Authorities demanded the immediate recall of the entire batch and related inspections are already underway. Consumers who have purchased this specific product are advised not to consume it and to return it to where they bought it or dispose of it safely.
