The Latin exam questions for the 2025 Greek University Entrance Examinations are being characterized as “easy” and “without particular difficulties” by education experts. Efi Tsioli, Philologist at the “Neo” Tutorial Group, provides the following detailed analysis:
“Students in the Theoretical track were examined today in Latin. The questions were easy overall without any particular difficulties.
The Lexicology exercise was manageable, as was the corresponding Introduction section.
For the Grammar exercises, as expected, very good knowledge of Vocabulary and peculiarities in the declension of both nouns and verbs was required. Topic C comprehensively covered the entire range of Grammar knowledge. It should be noted that adjectives and their comparatives received particular preference from the examiners.
The exercises in Topic D concerning Syntax covered:
– the phenomenon of converting indirect speech to direct speech without any particular difficulty
– the phenomenon of converting from Active to Passive construction, where candidates had to pay attention to the prepositional use of the poetic accusative and
– conditional clauses
These were expected phenomena, without surprises and sophisticated details.
The Latin subject requires methodical study, discipline and great attention to detail. Students who had cultivated these virtues would not have encountered any problems.”
