Three incidents of violence that the victim refused to have investigated have come under scrutiny by police authorities, who are trying to capture the man who shot and murdered in cold blood the co-owner of a camping site in Finikounda and the business supervisor on Sunday evening (5.10). Police officers from the Hellenic Police Homicide Department who came from Athens to Messenia to assist their colleagues in the investigation are trying to connect the puzzle pieces in order to get to the bottom of the motives behind the double murder. Motives that involve financial disputes? Inheritance issues? Personal differences? Romantic preferences? Or perhaps a combination of the above?
The fact that the perpetrator continues to evade capture until this moment does not help the analysts’ investigations sufficiently. More than 30 hours have already passed since the young gunman broke into the customer reception office of the camping site and shot in cold blood both the business co-owner, Kostas Tomaras, and the camping supervisor. Present and at a short distance was the son of the unfortunate Kostas’s brother, who took over his father’s share after his death.
Double murder in Finikounda: What authorities are investigating
The perpetrator fired once at the young boy, but without hitting him, and then ran toward the road. This was a distance of approximately 200 meters, until he reached the main road connecting Finikounda with Pylos. There he got on a motorcycle that he himself had parked -or which was driven by an accomplice- and disappeared in the direction of Methoni. A motorcycle found outside Pylos is being investigated to determine if it is the murderer’s motorbike and is being examined at the Criminal Laboratories.
Unfortunately, cameras in the Finikounda area that could help with further investigations have not been located. However, the same does not apply to security cameras in the broader Pylos area, which are being thoroughly investigated. There, police believe they will trace the murderer’s movements by trying to identify the escape route and, mainly, the vehicle he used.
Today, Tuesday (7.10) morning, the examination of the bodies of the two victims of the heinous murder is expected to take place at the Forensic Medicine Service of Corinth. The procedure is characterized by police as routine, since it essentially involves recording the wounds suffered by the camping co-owner and the supervisor. Their death was instantaneous anyway, and the rescuers who arrived at the scene simply confirmed it.
Roadblocks throughout Messenia are dense, while raids on houses and locations where the murderer is believed to be hiding are continuous, but until now he manages to remain off the radar of the Hellenic Police.
