Speaking from Malandrino prison, Babis Anagnostopoulos, the confessed perpetrator of his wife Caroline’s murder, addressed recent statements made about him and his intention to “break” his life sentence. The pilot initially wanted to emphasize through the show “Truths with Zina” that he continues to serve his sentence without any special treatment and works at the canteen, while subsequently denying that he intends to file an appeal.
Specifically, he told Giannis Malliaros: “Following recent unfounded statements by my former attorney Mr. Alexandros Papaioanidis, who no longer represents me, which statements were made during a nationwide television program and subsequently reproduced by both electronic and print media, regarding my alleged intention to appeal to the Supreme Court, I am compelled to clarify. Since I myself withdrew from the further hearing of the filed appeal, for reasons of force majeure which continue to exist, I hoped that beyond the clear positions I had expressed about this, my withdrawal from the possibility of filing a cassation request was also self-evident. Nevertheless, I sadly find that my clear position was not respected. Additionally, I declare that I would never express myself negatively about my deceased wife’s family, specifically regarding how any matter concerning my daughter is handled. Consequently, I clarify that any public statement by the aforementioned lawyer has not received my approval and in no way reflects my will”.
Babis Anagnostopoulos’ new lawyer
As becomes clear from the pilot’s above statement, Mr. Alexandros Papaioanidis is no longer his advocate and their cooperation has concluded. According to exclusive information from the show “Truths with Zina”, the pilot’s new lawyer will be Mr. Nikos Anagnostopoulos who has just taken on the case and is expected to comment soon.
