The country is shutting down tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1, due to a 24-hour nationwide strike announced by GSEE, ADEDY and other unions protesting the new labor bill. Specifically, regarding public transport on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, due to workers’ strike action, Metro Lines 1, 2 & 3 and the Tram will operate from 9 AM to 5:00 PM.
During this period, Metro services to and from the Airport will also run.
In detail, STASY announces the following schedules:
On Metro Line 1 (Piraeus – Kifissia) stations will open at 9 AM and the last trains will depart:
- from Kifissia and Piraeus at 4:35 PM,
- from Monastiraki towards Kifissia at 4:51 PM and towards Piraeus at 5:09 PM,
- from Omonia towards Kifissia at 4:54 PM and towards Piraeus at 5:07 PM,
- from Attiki towards Kifissia at 4:59 PM and towards Piraeus at 5:02 PM.
On Metro Lines 2 & 3, stations will open at 9 AM and the last trains will depart:
- from Syntagma towards all directions at 5:00 PM,
- from Anthoupoli towards Elliniko at 4:42 PM,
- from Elliniko towards Anthoupoli at 4:39 PM,
- from Dimotiko Theatro towards D. Plakentias at 4:33 PM,
- from D. Plakentias towards Dimotiko Theatro at 4:39 PM,
- from Airport towards Dimotiko Theatro at 4:19 PM,
- from Dimotiko Theatro towards Airport at 3:42 PM.
What will happen with tram lines 6 and 7
Line 7:
- the first tram will depart from Asklepieio Voulas at 9:31 AM and the last at 3:19 PM,
- the first tram will depart from Agia Triada at 9:54 AM and the last at 3:43 PM.
Line 6:
- the first tram will depart from Pikrodafni at 9:15 AM and the last at 3:24 PM,
- the first tram will depart from Syntagma at 10:05 AM and the last at 4:14 PM.
Lines 6 & 7 (with connection at Pikrodafni):
- the first tram will depart from Syntagma towards Asklepieio Voulas at 10:05 AM and the last at 3:29 PM,
- the first tram will depart from Asklepieio Voulas towards Syntagma at 9:31 AM and the last at 2:55 PM,
- the first tram will depart from Agia Triada towards Syntagma at 9:54 AM and the last at 2:55 PM,
- the first tram will depart from Syntagma towards Agia Triada at 10:05 AM and the last at 3:11 PM.
How buses will operate
For buses and trolleys, workers will strike from shift start until 9:00 AM and from 9:00 PM until shift end.
Note that vehicle operations will begin gradually after the work stoppage ends at 9:00 AM, and correspondingly, vehicles will start returning to depots progressively before 9:00 PM.
Additionally, due to some workers’ participation in GSEE’s 24-hour strike, bus route cancellations are expected even during operating hours, while suburban bus lines will run normally.
