Meta wants to make finding love on Facebook easier by introducing an artificial intelligence assistant to its dating feature. The company announced this week that it’s “helping people avoid swipe fatigue” through two new tools called dating assistant and Meet Cute. Facebook Dating is a free service within the Facebook app that aims to simplify the dating process by encouraging conversations between users with shared interests.

How Meta’s new dating assistant works
For example, the new dating assistant can suggest matches with similar interests to users – Meta gives the example “find me a girl from Brooklyn who works in tech” – or help users improve their own profiles. Meanwhile, the Meet Cute feature gives people an automatic weekly “match” based on the algorithm.
Notably, AI features have already been integrated into other dating apps. Tech company Match Group, which operates Tinder and Hinge, has increased its AI investments, using bots to coach struggling users, help write messages, and suggest which photos to use.
