Panos Routsi, father of 22-year-old Denis who lost his life in the Tempi train disaster, continues his hunger strike demanding the exhumation of his child, and today (25/9) filed a supplementary petition co-signed by dozens of relatives of the tragedy’s victims among the 57 dead.
This new petition by Panos Routsi was filed at the Larissa Court of Appeals, while similar exhumation requests have also been submitted by Pavlos Aslanidis and Christos Tilkeridis, seeking investigation of the remains of their loved ones who met tragic death in the Tempi disaster. In essence, this is a continuation of the petition filed on September 15 and includes once again the request for exhumation of Denis Routsi’s body, son of Panos Routsi, with the petition filing process at the Larissa Court of Appeals being completed today.
Panos Routsi: “A decision on his son’s exhumation is expected soon,” said Giorgos Floridis
The request concerns conducting examinations for body identification and toxicological tests to determine the cause of death. The other requests concern upgrading the charges for the two Hellenic Train executives to the felony case of disrupting transportation safety and the crime of endangerment, and the correct characterization of negligent homicide as homicide with possible intent. It should be noted that 35 of the 36 defendants are prosecuted for the crime of negligent homicide and 33 for the felony form of disrupting transportation safety. Earlier today, Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis stated that a decision on the exhumation of Panos Routsi’s son is expected soon.
