The 50-year-old man who killed his 59-year-old sister by suffocating her with a bag last Saturday afternoon (20/09) inside her home in the Charilaou area of Thessaloniki has been ordered to remain in pre-trial detention. Criminal charges have been filed against the confessed perpetrator for premeditated murder.

According to makedonia.gr sources, appearing before the 4th regular examining magistrate, the 50-year-old claimed he “lost his mind” and that his brain got stuck. He also alleged that his sister, whom he described as someone who feared germs and was obsessed with cleanliness, made two harsh remarks to him, leading to an intense argument between them. Regarding the murder motive, he provided no explanation, stating that nothing specific drove him to kill his sister. With the agreement of both the examining magistrate and prosecutor, the confessed perpetrator is being sent to prison.

The brutal crime that shocked the local community occurred last Saturday at the unfortunate woman’s home in the Charilaou area. The 59-year-old had just returned from the hospital after suffering a minor stroke. Her brother was the one who brought her home and helped her, buying groceries and everything she needed.
After killing his sister, the 50-year-old called his wife, with whom he had earlier had a phone argument, and immediately afterward called the police confessing his crime. Police officers arriving at the scene found the woman wrapped with a bag around her head.
