The Fire Service was put on high alert Monday evening following an explosion and major fire in an apartment in the Prophet Elias area of Preveza. According to initial reports, the explosion occurred in an apartment on the 4th floor of an apartment building and immediately sparked a fire. Fire trucks rushed to the scene and a major firefighting operation is underway. Police forces are also present at the location. So far, there are no reports of injuries.

Reports indicate that the apartment building has been evacuated by order of the authorities. Thick smoke has engulfed the apartments and corridors, making it impossible for residents to remain. Firefighters, making superhuman efforts, managed to pass hoses through the uncovered area to reach the burning apartment and continue extinguishing the blaze.
