Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas tonight issued a call to Hamas to surrender its weapons and condemned the organization’s attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, in a videotaped speech broadcast at the UN. “Hamas will have no role in governance, Hamas and other factions must lay down their weapons to the Palestinian Authority,” Abbas emphasized, who was denied a visa by the US to attend the summit being held in New York regarding the two-state solution.
