Shock and revulsion have been caused by a new case of sexual abuse of a minor in Cyprus, with authorities having already proceeded to arrest a domestic worker, aged 24, originally from Nepal, according to philenews.com. The complaint was filed by the mother of the 6-year-old child, who contacted the police. After collecting evidence that appears to connect her to the case, the young woman was brought before the Limassol District Court.

According to philenews, the incident occurred when the mother had laid down on Sunday afternoon to rest and her minor daughter was under the supervision of the suspected domestic worker in the latter’s bedroom. According to the complaint, the mother took her daughter’s mobile phone that evening, as she usually did, to check it. There she found photos and videos showing the intimate parts of the girl’s body as well as evidence of the child’s abuse. After what the mother saw, she demanded explanations from the 24-year-old domestic worker, who, according to the former’s claims, replied that she “was playing with the minor in her bedroom“.
Investigations into the new shocking case are at a very preliminary stage, while statements are expected to be taken from both the minor girl and the suspect. Additionally, a forensic medical examination of the minor will be conducted, while the mobile phones of both the victim and the suspect will undergo scientific, forensic and other examinations.
