The 19-year-old son of a well-known politician and former minister was caught in a police checkpoint on Friday night (19/9) at the border between Kifisia and Nea Erythraia. A checkpoint on Charilaou Trikoupi Street at number 218 resulted in the arrest of the young man after it was discovered he was carrying pepper spray!
Timeline of the former minister’s son’s arrest
According to police sources, the young man was driving his car with two other young passengers when, at an unsuspecting moment around 11:00 PM, a Special Police Unit team signaled them for a routine check. The same sources emphasize that all three young men were fully cooperative. The officers found the pepper spray in the 19-year-old’s possession and took him to the Kifisia police station. You see, possessing and using such spray requires a relevant permit, which the young heir does not have. The young man reportedly told police he carried the spray for security reasons.
A case file was opened against the 19-year-old for violation of weapons law, a misdemeanor charge. At the same time, however, the other two friends of the 19-year-old, aged 20 and 17, were also taken to the same station. While the 20-year-old was found “clean,” the same cannot be said for the minor, who had a small amount of cannabis in his possession. According to police sources, he had approximately 2.6 grams on him and a case file was opened against him for violation of drug laws.
In both cases, the competent prosecutor was informed, who ordered their release with a verbal instruction. It should be noted that so far there has been no official reaction from the 19-year-old’s father, who has recently been at the center of political discussions due to his activities in the political arena.
