A Palestinian journalist has succumbed to his injuries from the deadly strike carried out last night by Israel on a tent belonging to the Al Jazeera television network team in Gaza city, bringing the total death toll to six, as announced today by the local Civil Defense service and a hospital official.
“Photojournalist Mohammed Al-Khaldi succumbed to his injuries (…). This brings to six” the victims of this strike, after which Al Jazeera had announced the deaths of two journalists and three cameramen, Gaza Strip Civil Defense service spokesperson Mahmoud Basal told AFP.
Gaza: Sixth Palestinian journalist who was injured in Israeli strike dies
Specifically, Mohammed al-Khaldi was an independent journalist who occasionally collaborated with local media outlets. The director of Al-Shifa Hospital – near which the tent had been set up – Mohammed Abu Salmiya confirmed al-Khaldi’s death, which occurred this morning “as a result of his injuries.”
Among the strike victims was the well-known Gaza Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif, 28, whom the Israeli military said it targeted, labeling him a “terrorist.” The other deceased are correspondent Mohammed Qreiqah, as well as cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Mo’men Ailwah. Their names are added to the list of nearly 200 journalists, according to RSF, who have been killed in the war launched in retaliation for the bloody attack by the Palestinian organization Hamas on October 7, 2023.
UN “condemns the killing by Israeli forces of six Palestinian journalists” in Gaza
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights condemned “the killing by Israeli forces of six Palestinian journalists” last night in the Gaza Strip, in a statement published via X.
The High Commissioner accuses Israel of “targeting the tent” where five Al Jazeera television network employees were located, which “constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law,” according to the statement.
From a heavy farewell where the air chokes with tears, Gaza, under bombardment, set out to bid farewell to her journalist sons: Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqah, Ibrahim Zaher, Mo’men Ailwah, Mohammed Noufal, and Mohammed Al-Khaldi.

“Israel must respect and protect all civilians, including journalists,” the High Commissioner further emphasizes, reminding that “at least 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed since October 7, 2023 in Gaza” while the UN reiterated its call for “immediate, safe and unimpeded access for all journalists in Gaza.”
One of the victims, 28-year-old Anas al-Sharif, was one of the best-known correspondents covering the conflict daily. The Israeli military said it targeted him, labeling him a “terrorist” who was “masquerading as a journalist.”
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) “vehemently and angrily” condemned “the murder, responsibility for which was claimed” by the Israeli military, of Anas al-Sharif, adding that this journalist was “the voice for the suffering imposed by Israel on the Palestinians of Gaza.”
