Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis expressed his firm conviction that New Democracy will also win the upcoming elections scheduled for spring 2027, speaking in Ioannina at a party event as part of a government delegation tour through the Epirus region.
Kostis Hatzidakis: The five pillars of victory
Kostis Hatzidakis outlined five reasons why New Democracy is set to win the next election.
1. The government’s track record. He highlighted, among other achievements, the drop in unemployment from 18% in 2019 to 7.7% today, the digital transformation of public services, the clearance of pending pension cases, and the crackdown on both petty and large-scale crime. He also emphasized the country’s foreign and defense policy, pursued “without fanfare or grandstanding, but with real results on the ground.” “Today, just a few months before the elections, we can look Greek citizens in the eye and tell them: what we said, we did. We promised little so that we could honor exactly what we promised,” he stressed.
2. Kyriakos Mitsotakis. “In the next election, the dilemma is not ‘Mitsotakis or chaos.’ The dilemma is ‘Mitsotakis or Androulakis or Tsipras or Velopoulos or Koutsoumbas or Konstantopoulou or Latinopoulou.’ Those are the choices — and that is precisely why I am certain that the outcome is already shaping up to be a winning one for New Democracy. Because people do not commit political suicide. It is clear that the country’s future depends on supporting a leader who is hardworking, effective, and — above all — capable of representing us on the world stage and making us proud, as he did yesterday at the UN,” said Kostis Hatzidakis.
3. The party’s leadership teams and cadres. “Compare our cadres and ministers to their counterparts in the opposition parties. In terms of governance, one would have to say that the vast majority of talented individuals currently active in politics belong to New Democracy,” he pointed out.

4. The vision for Greece in 2030. “It will be a plan rooted in truth and honesty, built on the relationship between us. Rest assured, we will say less — but less will mean more. It will also be a plan built on fresh ideas and modern, workable solutions. We have a team that monitors developments and understands the complexity of international, economic, and technological realities. And we have already begun working through all of these solutions for Greece in 2030,” Kostis Hatzidakis underlined. He also invited party members to submit their views by December 15th through a dedicated platform that has been set up. “We will process these ideas. We are looking for solutions that are both practical and outside the box — new solutions. Know that when you see Kyriakos Mitsotakis presenting our programme for Greece in 2030, it is very likely you will recognize your own proposals within it. It is worth making the effort.”
5. The people of New Democracy. “You are the ones who won the 2019 elections. You are the ones who went on to win a series of other contests — municipal elections and European elections alike. You are the ones who defied all predictions and delivered an outright majority for New Democracy in 2023. The seasoned and battle-tested cadres of this party, both old and new,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, concluding: “We will fight this battle together — and we will win it. Not just for New Democracy, but for Greece. What we have achieved in recent years were not merely government successes. They were national successes. And Greece will not allow the gains of recent years to go to waste. Yes, mistakes were made. But when you look at the full picture — for today and for tomorrow — the dilemma is clear: it is realistic hope with New Democracy on one side, or uncertainty and risk on the other.”
