In a social media post, SYRIZA-PS president Socrates Famellos denounces excessive electricity bills, the energy crisis, and the privatization of the Public Power Corporation (PPC) that burden citizens. “While this summer’s heatwave is testing everyone’s endurance, the real burden for most people will come with their electricity bill. For those who have air conditioning, but also for many of our fellow citizens who don’t even have that option,” emphasized Mr. Famellos.
Famellos on electricity price crisis: “Heatwave and bills test households”
At the same time, he accused New Democracy of being busy with the agricultural subsidies case at OPEKEPE while failing to take measures for the energy crisis. He emphasized that under the SYRIZA government from 2015 to 2019, electricity bills did not increase by even one euro, while now, after the privatization of PPC, the price per kilowatt-hour has already increased by 50% with new increases expected. Finally, he pointed out that despite PPC recording profits of 1.8 billion euros in 2024, consumers have seen no benefit, calling on the government to take immediate measures.
@sokratisfamellos The heatwave has tested everyone’s endurance, but what will hurt all citizens is the electricity bill. New Democracy was… very busy with stealing farmers’ money at OPEKEPE and couldn’t find time to take measures for the energy crisis. Mr. Mitsotakis neither wants to nor can.
