It is unclear why the majority of the board of directors of the workers’ union at the Attikon University Hospital in Chaidari have made a habit of spreading inaccuracies — but this time, things have gone too far. The union’s board of directors released incomplete data to the public in an apparent attempt to “justify” its claims of understaffing at the 2nd University Psychiatric Clinic of Attikon Hospital.

“Nine nurses for 24 hospitalized psychiatric patients” is the headline claim of the complaint announcement issued yesterday by the workers’ union board of directors at Attikon Hospital. However, this does not reflect reality — and the board’s persistence in pushing this narrative is puzzling.
Specifically, the actual current staffing levels at the 2nd University Psychiatric Clinic of Attikon Hospital are as follows:
- 9 university-degree registered nurses,
- 2 secondary education nurses,
- 2 compulsory education ward assistants,
- 1 secondary education auxiliary nursing staff member
Furthermore, according to well-informed sources at parapolitika.gr, starting from Monday, October 12 — with the introduction of next week’s work schedule — the clinic will already be reinforced with 1 additional nurse holding a technological education degree.
