Resignations among teachers facing severe housing problems due to a lack of available accommodation have been reported on Parapolitika 90.1 during the morning show “Proiní Afetería” with Eri Panagou. Nikos Goulioumis, Secretary General of the Board of Directors of ELME Corfu, raised the alarm, noting that the few vacant accommodations available on the island are both poor in quality and prohibitively expensive. He also revealed that some teachers have been forced to live in their cars or at camping sites.
Goulioumis also spoke of aging, poorly maintained school buildings, while warning that 100 teaching positions remain unfilled in secondary education — with even more vacancies reported at the primary education level.
