Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged today that Iranian society is facing “many difficulties,” as the United States moves to intensify economic pressure on Iran through a new wave of sweeping sanctions. “I know that our society is currently facing many difficulties. We are doing everything possible to prevent the situation from getting worse,” the Iranian president said in a speech broadcast on state television.
His remarks come after the US pledged on Thursday to “cause the collapse” of the Iranian regime through new economic sanctions set to be announced this Monday — nearly six months after the conflict began.

Pezeshkian directly addressed US plans today, stating: “We are engaged in a total war — on the economic front, the military front, and the security front. He (US President Donald Trump) is categorically declaring that he will impose the most crushing and most devastating sanctions on Iran.”
“We are doing everything in our power to tackle inflation, cost-of-living pressures, and unemployment, and to secure the future of our people so they can live with dignity and pride,” Pezeshkian concluded.
