Shock in Peru following a powerful earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale. The tremor struck today in southern Peru, as announced by the Peruvian Geophysical Institute (Instituto Geofísico del Perú / IGP). The epicenter was located 35 kilometers north of the city of Coracora in the Parinacochas province, with a focal depth estimated at 108 kilometers.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.7. So far, there are no reports of casualties.
