A dramatic police chase unfolded in Grevena after a 47-year-old driver refused to stop at a police checkpoint and subsequently drove his vehicle into officers, lightly injuring one of them. A pursuit followed, with the vehicle being brought to a stop shortly afterward and the suspect taken into custody by authorities.

Grevena: Driver deliberately moved vehicle toward officers
According to police, members of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Unit (O.P.K.E.) of the Grevena Crime Investigation Department were on patrol when they attempted to carry out a routine check on a private vehicle being driven by the 47-year-old suspect. However, the driver failed to comply with the officers’ stop signal and fled the scene.
Shortly afterward, the vehicle was brought to a stop in another area of Grevena. According to the Hellenic Police, the 47-year-old continued to refuse to comply with officers’ instructions in an attempt to avoid the inspection. During the incident, he allegedly drove his vehicle directly toward the officers, causing one of them to sustain minor injuries.
47-year-old driver arrested
Officers proceeded to arrest the 47-year-old, who was taken — along with the criminal case file compiled against him — before the Grevena Misdemeanor Court Prosecutor.
He has been charged with bodily harm, insubordination, and violence against public servants and judicial officials. The preliminary investigation into the case was conducted by the Grevena Police Department.
