On Andromachis Street, in the Peristeria area of Salamina, near the point where the fire is believed to have started, the bodies of two elderly people — a couple — were discovered, as reported by Spyros Darsinos in his report for parapolitika.gr. According to information, the victims were a 91-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman. The couple is believed to have been trapped by the flames before firefighters had the chance to intervene. It is estimated that a fatal mistake occurred when the couple chose the path leading toward the sea instead of continuing along Andromachis Street. There, they were surrounded by smoke and were unable to escape. Their daughter, who had been on the island of Aegina, traveled to Salamina upon learning of the tragedy.
