A federal judge has dismissed the lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump‘s administration against Harvard University, which had accused the institution of tolerating antisemitic behavior during pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Specifically, Judge Richard Stearns of the Federal District Court in Boston ruled that the lawsuit failed to prove that Harvard had violated a civil rights provision prohibiting racial discrimination.

The judge’s reasoning
Judge Stearns noted that the arguments presented focused primarily on incidents that occurred during campus protests over Israel’s war in Gaza throughout the 2023–2024 academic year, while the remaining incidents were described as “isolated and sporadic.” He further stated that the lawsuit failed to establish any violations by Harvard of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
It is worth recalling that Donald Trump had previously stated that “Harvard is an antisemitic, far-left institution, like many others, that accepts students from around the world who want to destroy our country.” He also added: “The place is a liberal mess, allowing a specific group of lunatics to come in and out of classrooms and spew fake ANGER AND HATE. It’s truly disgusting!” Trump had also called for the dismissal of a Trump Organization attorney who took on the role of representing Harvard.
