Ukraine has transmitted a proposal to Russia, through a third country, for a ceasefire regarding attacks on non-military targets in the Black Sea, according to international news agency Reuters. However, Kyiv has yet to receive a response from Moscow. It is worth noting that in recent weeks, both sides have warned that attacks on grain shipments and port infrastructure in the Black Sea could significantly impact global food prices.

It is recalled that Ukraine suspended its drone attacks on oil tankers using Russia’s Novorossiysk port in the Black Sea, following a request reportedly made by US Vice President JD Vance at the end of last month, according to a report by the Financial Times.
The British newspaper cites sources within the Ukrainian government, who claim that Washington expressed concern over the impact of the attacks on international oil markets, as well as potential consequences for American companies.
According to the report, the attacks targeted tankers carrying crude oil from Kazakhstan, which had been transported through a Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal near the Russian port. A similar account had been reported in previous days by Bloomberg, which noted that the American request specifically concerned tankers not carrying Russian oil.
