Two major US media organizations filed a lawsuit today against the sale of privileged early access to President Donald Trump‘s Truth Social posts — posts that frequently trigger significant market movements.
System called “corrupt and unconstitutional”
The lawsuit, filed in New York by The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation, argues that this system is “corrupt and unconstitutional.” Subscribers to the service reportedly receive near-instant access to Trump’s Truth Social messages — just a few critical seconds ahead of the general public. According to the complaint, gaining that access costs subscribers up to $100,000 per month.
The Republican billionaire frequently uses his platform to make major policy announcements — from the latest developments in the conflict with Iran to the imposition of new tariffs — moves that can send markets sharply lower or dramatically higher. “This system is deeply corrupt. The president is in a position to financially benefit by giving government information that moves markets to those who can afford to pay his own company,” the lawsuit states.
