American F-16 fighter jets intercepted two civilian aircraft that entered a temporary flight restriction zone near Donald Trump‘s golf course and private club in Bedminster, New Jersey, according to a statement from the U.S. military and reports from American media outlets.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) confirmed that F-16s were scrambled yesterday, intercepting the civilian aircraft and escorting them out of the restricted airspace.
According to reports from Fox News and the New York Post, the civilian aircraft were intercepted in close proximity to the president’s club, where the Republican billionaire was spending the weekend.

The U.S. military did not specify in its statement how many fighter jets were scrambled for the interceptions, nor did it provide further details about the “general aviation aircraft” that violated the restricted air traffic zone.
It is standard practice to impose flight restrictions over areas where the sitting U.S. president is located, for security reasons. Violations do occur from time to time, typically involving small aircraft whose pilots were unaware of the restrictions. NORAD reminded pilots to stay up to date with Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) at all times.
