A tragedy occurred in Heraklion, Crete on Thursday evening, July 24th, when a 20-month-old girl lost her life after choking on a piece of meat. According to cretalive.gr, the Director of Venizeleio Hospital, K. Dandoulakis, reported that the toddler choked on a piece of meat while eating souvlaki with her family and was rushed to the hospital.

Medical staff managed to remove the piece of meat from her airways and performed CPR, but were unable to save her life.
