Tensions flared at the women’s prison in Thebes, where a riot reportedly broke out before being swiftly suppressed by correctional officers. The unrest appears to have been triggered by the death of a 59-year-old inmate who, according to sources, had been suffering from serious chronic health conditions.
During the incident, prisoners allegedly set fire to mattresses inside the facility. However, correctional staff intervened immediately and the situation was quickly brought under control.
