A jet ski outing turned tragic for an Iraqi family in Bodrum, Turkey. A young girl was found unconscious off the coast of Kos and was later pronounced dead, while her father and sister remain missing. The incident began near Bodrum when the family’s mother alerted Turkish authorities after a jet ski capsized. Turkish authorities, who are leading the maritime search and rescue operation, notified their Greek counterparts to assist in determining whether the victims had been carried by currents toward Kos.

The Greek Coast Guard located the unconscious girl northeast of Kos. She was transferred to Kos General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Search operations in the area are ongoing as the girl’s father and sister remain missing. A Hellenic Air Force helicopter has also been deployed to assist in the search. Northwestern winds of force five on the Beaufort scale are currently affecting the area.
