The weather phenomena will primarily affect the central and western parts of the country, including the Peloponnese, Central Greece, Thessaly, Epirus, and Macedonia — mainly in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, but also locally in lowland and coastal zones.
In contrast, the eastern parts of the Peloponnese and Central Greece, Euboea, the Sporades, Thrace, and the Aegean will enjoy generally fine weather with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures will range between 30–32°C in the northern mainland, while the western lowland mainland areas will reach up to 34°C. In the Ionian island regions, temperatures will sit around 32°C, while eastern mainland areas will see 31–32°C, slightly lower due to northerly winds. Across most Aegean island regions, temperatures will range from 26 to 31°C.
Winds over the Ionian Sea will blow from the northwest at 3–4 Beaufort, while the Aegean will see northerly winds reaching 6–7 Beaufort — particularly in the central Aegean and the Dodecanese.
Friday weather in Athens and Thessaloniki
For Attica, sunshine is forecast with some scattered clouds during midday and afternoon in the western and northwestern areas. Temperatures will range from 22 to 31°C, with northeasterly winds at 3–5 Beaufort, locally reaching 6 Beaufort.
In Thessaloniki, there is a small chance of localized rain at midday and in the afternoon, mainly in mountainous areas, with temperatures between 20–30°C and southeasterly winds at 3–4 Beaufort.
Weekend weather outlook
Over the weekend, northerly winds in the Aegean will persist at 6–7 Beaufort, while winds in the Ionian will reach up to 4–5 Beaufort. Localized showers are expected in the mountainous regions of the mainland, though less intense than Friday.
On Saturday, temperatures will reach 32–33°C on the mainland, and 28–31°C in the southern island regions.
On Sunday, weather conditions will be generally favorable with sunshine, only a few isolated showers in the highest mountain areas, and a rise in temperatures to 34–35°C — potentially reaching 36°C in western regions, northern Greece, and Thessaly. In the southern island regions, temperatures will range between 30–33°C, with northerly winds up to 5 Beaufort in the Ionian Islands and 5–6 Beaufort across the Aegean.
