Security cameras captured every detail of a 21-year-old man’s actions as he stole candles from a cemetery in Elliniko. The young man was arrested on Sunday morning (07/06) in Elliniko for a series of thefts from the local cemetery.

Elliniko: Caught in the act while climbing cemetery wall
According to the Hellenic Police, the 21-year-old was arrested while climbing the cemetery’s exterior wall, intending to enter the premises and commit another theft. The investigation revealed that since last January, the 21-year-old, acting with the assistance of another person, had been stealing mainly bronze candles from Elliniko Cemetery.
The arrest was made following a coordinated operation by a special police unit established to investigate the repeated thefts of metal objects from the cemetery. During the subsequent search, police found and confiscated a bag containing two pliers and one pair of scissors.

So far, seven theft cases have been solved, with the value of stolen items exceeding 4,000 euros. In video footage obtained by Star, the 21-year-old can be seen grabbing candles from graves and leaving the cemetery.
Criminal charges were filed against the 21-year-old for attempted theft in collaboration with others, as well as for violating weapons legislation. The suspect was brought before the competent prosecutor, while authorities continue their investigations for the complete resolution of the case and the identification of his accomplice.
