The survey was prompted by the “Wedding Wishes with Viber Dating” contest, which invites couples who met through Viber Dating to share their story “from chat to marriage” through a short Instagram video and win €25,000 for their dream wedding. Contest participation is open until June 21, 2026, through Direct Message to the @viber_dating Instagram account.

62% of users view marriage as the natural destination of a true love relationship, a percentage showing that the institution remains alive in the collective consciousness. Meanwhile, 24% state they don’t consider it necessary, suggesting that commitment as a value has begun to separate from the formal ceremony. In the same spirit, an impressive 68% favor cohabitation before marriage, highlighting that shared daily life is an essential test for a couple, with only 7% disagreeing.
The dominant philosophy: “There’s no perfect timeline”
When asked about the appropriate time to know someone before marriage, 55% answered that there’s no perfect timeline, an attitude reflecting a more flexible and less conventional approach to relationships. 15% go even further, believing that cohabitation matters more than the duration of courtship.
The dream wedding: Traditional yet realistic
When it comes time to envision their big day, Greeks reveal their most romantic side. 46% choose a traditional and grand wedding with 150+ guests and celebration until dawn, while 31% prefer something more intimate, a small wedding with close family and friends under 50 people. Regarding budget, the majority (44%) considers the €10,000-25,000 range ideal, while 37% would choose a modest celebration under €5,000, a choice that demonstrates practical thinking without undervaluing the importance of the moment.
