SYRIZA leader Sokratis Famellos addressed the government’s proposal for an investigative committee regarding the OPEKEPE case, characterizing it as hypocritical, while simultaneously describing as a “mistake” the decision by PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis not to support a joint preliminary investigation proposal from opposition parties.
Famellos: Androulakis’ mistake in not signing joint OPEKEPE investigation proposal
Speaking characteristically on SKAI TV, the SYRIZA leader stated: “We consider the investigative committee hypocritical – the government is doing it to bury the truth” and added that “since I’ve clarified who stole the farmers’ money, the prime minister also bears political responsibility.”
He continued by saying: “Mr. Androulakis made a mistake, he should have chosen for us all to make a proposal together because when facing corruption we must all stand united. And in any case, when the European Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the Mitsotakis government, there is no room for compromises from Mr. Androulakis.”
“We are in the same direction” with Tsipras
Finally, when asked about a possible return of Alexis Tsipras, the SYRIZA leader responded: “There is a major comeback of SYRIZA. From the beginning I chose to speak about the need for cooperation, to have a strong opponent to the Mitsotakis government and I have called for the government’s resignation. Mr. Tsipras and I made a joint statement from the first day I took office, we have a common line for the country’s politics, we are in the same direction. After the congress we proved that all discussions about tension at the congress and SYRIZA’s dissolution were proven wrong.”
