Sadness spread through the media world with the news of the death of journalist Thomas Markopoulos, at just 34 years old. The sudden death of the journalist and communications expert caused grief in his hometown of Kilkis, as well as among people who knew him. Thomas Markopoulos passed away while in Crete for professional reasons.

The journalist was working at a hotel unit in Kavros Apokoronou, Chania, during the tourist season. According to neakriti.gr, on the evening of Tuesday 12/05, he suddenly collapsed. He was transferred to Rethymno Hospital, where doctors made efforts to keep him alive. However, despite medical care, the 34-year-old did not make it. The exact causes of his death are expected to be clarified by the autopsy, which will be conducted in the coming period.
Thomas Markopoulos: Active media presence since 2009
Thomas Markopoulos had an active presence in the media sector since 2009, with activities in journalism, communications and radio. Since 2020 he participated in the OK RADIO team, where he presented the show “politikoLOGOS,” while also writing articles for “EIDISEIS.” With consistent presence, reliability and modern understanding of news reporting, he had managed to create a recognizable footprint in the field.
He originated from Megali Vrysi in Kilkis and Iasmos in Rodopi. He studied Public Relations, Digital Media and Communications in Kastoria, obtained a Journalism diploma in Thessaloniki, while completing postgraduate studies in International Relations at the University of Macedonia.
