Shock in Heraklion Crete: 30-year-old charged, child’s testimony proves crucial
Police authorities from the Malevizi Police Department proceeded with the arrest of the 30-year-old husband, against whom criminal charges were filed for attempted murder with intent. The accused requested and received a postponement to testify on Tuesday. According to preliminary investigation evidence, three minor children were also in the family vehicle, including a three-month-old baby, while the oldest child attends first grade. The incident allegedly unfolded in front of the children. There is also information that before her family arrived at the scene, the woman was discovered by a passing driver who immediately notified authorities. The 30-year-old claimed his wife was injured when she was thrown from the vehicle while they were driving as a family, however police are examining different scenarios, as investigation findings appear to contradict his initial version.
The testimony of one of the children is considered crucial and is being evaluated by authorities in combination with other case evidence. Meanwhile, the possibility that the 30-year-old was driving under the influence of alcohol and without a license is being examined. The vehicle has been placed under expert scrutiny, as it bears signs of impact and blood stains were found both inside and outside. Authorities are investigating all possibilities, from traffic accident to possible ejection of the woman from the vehicle or injury caused by it.
